This thesis analyses how a radiology department at the largest hospital in Sweden, Karolinska University Hospital, most profitably could expand its capacity for investigating cancer patients using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The queues today for patients waiting to be scanned are long, which delays the start of cancer treatments. Meanwhile the hospital has a budget deficit of half a billion SEK, which make any expansion hard. In this thesis we evaluate the alternatives of investing in new machinery; utilize the current machinery better by using them more days annually or through a Shift work system. Finally we evaluate a combination of these.

ABSTRACTBackground:To work irregular hours, so called Shift work, involves a greater risk to develop bad health compared to work daytime. The society today requires availability 24-hours per day which makes shiftwork necessary. We have to find a way to make Shift working people remain at a good health.Purpose:The purpose of this study was to examine the self estimated health of Shift workers. This study concerns significant differences between self estimated health and: main reason for shiftwork, possibility to decide what to do at work and possibility to decide how to perform work tasks.Method:A cross sectional study was performed in four companies in industrial manufacturing, printing business and service business in the community of Örebro. 113 questionnaires were delivered and 71 persons filled the questionnaires and returned them, the reply fervency were 65 %.Results:In this population almost 80 % of the participants declared their health good, very good or excellent and no one declared their health as poor.

This paper examines how and if the understanding of wedding photography has changed during the shift of technology - from analog to digital photography. It examines if the changed conditions due to the shift of technology have changed the habits and conditions for the photographers working with wedding photography. It furthermore examines what impact these habits and conditions have had on the pictures of weddings. The investigation is based on interviews of six photographers that have worked professionally before and after the shift of technology, as well as of pictures by the photographers taken before and after the shift of technology.Use of time and space has changed due to the shift of technology. The change has also had an influence on hierarchy among the photographers.

To analyze the reception, paradigm theories by Kuhn, and Bourdieu?s ideas regarding field, habitus and capital has been used.

The term ?Object Shift? means that a weak object pronoun has been raised to a position to the left of a sentence adverbial. Primarily, there are two positions to which a weak object pronoun can be raised; one of them is called Long Object Shift.In this paper, I primarily deal with finite verb frequencies in sentences with Long Object Shift in Swedish. Also, in order to further define the verbs in these sentences I discuss verb semantic and syntactic valence in relation to the shifted object. Furthermore, I discuss the search methods which have generated sentences with Long Object Shift in written sources in Swedish; an equivalent study has never been done before.

The foremost objective of business organizations is to generate value for shareholders and to opt for strategies which optimize it. Hence it is of key concern for business leaders to appreciate how operations best are run to maximize value creation. This study explores how financial theory can reveal the link between one particular business strategy and the corresponding effect on shareholder wealth. The question in focus is whether construction companies can enhance their value creation by implementing shift-work to increase the weekly production rate. The thesis particularly targets apartment block projects in Sweden and has the construction company Peab AB as primary object of study.

Bakgrund: Skiftarbete är en vanlig arbetsmodell för sjuksköterskor runt om i världen. Skiftarbete är dock förknippat med negativa konsekvenser så som dygnsrytmsstörning och ohälsa. Det är därför viktigt att tydligare belysa hur skiftarbete påverkar sjuksköterskor och den vård som ges.Syfte: Att beskriva skiftarbetes konsekvenser på sjuksköterskor och deras arbete.Metod: En litteraturöversikt baserad på 14 kvantitativa studier hämtade från PubMed. Använda sökord var: Shift work, nurse, patient safety och fatigue. Översikten har gjorts enligt Friberg (2012a), där likheter och teman skapats utifrån studiernas resultat.Resultat: Långa och snabbroterande skift kan bidra till utbrändhet, sömnsvårigheter, fatigue och ökad misstagsfrekvens.

The aim of this study was to examine bilingual childrenslexical organization and to investigate weather bilingual children hadundergone the syntagmatic-paradigmatic shift in grade four. Thirtychildren from multi-ethnic areas were tested with Kent-Rosanoff wordassociation test in both Swedish and Arabic. The results showed thatmore than 40% of the children had undergone the shift in bothlanguages, 20 % had undergone the shift in only one of theirlanguages and almost 40% had not made the shift in any language. Acomparison with results from monolingual Swedish children in gradethree in a previous thesis, showed that the bilingual children in thisstudy did not reach the corresponding level of lexical organization.The study points to the necessity of including tests regarding lexicalorganization when assessing both mono- and bilingual children withsuspected language impairment. The study also underscores theimportance of supporting mother tongue development in bilingualchildren by for instance adequate mother tongue education.

Aim: The aim of this study is to examine how managers apprehend today's leadership and how they believe that future leadership will be influenced and developed when the people bourn during the nineteen forties pass on their management positions to a younger generation.Method: I share the hermeneutic view on science. I believe that knowledge is born with in the person who seeks to obtain it. I have chosen to conduct my study using a qualitative and inductive approach. I use an inductive approach as I answer my questions by using interviews in order to respond to my question at issues, and assumes from the empiric in my study.Result & Conclusions: The leadership role has changed from being? the one who decides?,? the director?, to becoming less peculiar and prestige.

To better understand how various factors affect the establishment of forest and trees around the tree line-ecotone, this study was conducted in Troms County, Norway. The altitude of different forest and tree limits together with the surrounding vegetation type were collected during August 2011. Comparisons of the collected data were made with previously collected data from the same sites conducted 1914 and 1915. On average the forest limit has expanded with 26 meters in altitude, however, an expansion is not statistically significant for the whole area. The tree limit has significantly expanded in altitude.

This examination paper defines how educators work with esthetic, and esthetic learning in pre-school. I have done research by interviewing four pedagogues. The result shows that the pedagogues does work with esthetic and practice esthetic learning processes, but their work shift. Some pedagoues practice strong esthetic and some practice more modest esthetic. Some of the pedagogues are more aware than other of the esthetics influens of the childrens life long learning.

Background: The recent years in the Swedish Fast Moving Consumer Goods industry have been characterized by a palpable shift in power balance, favouring the retailers. Since the shift in power balance has strengthened the negotiation position of the retailers, the suppliers now have to, to a greater extent than before, accommodate to the retailers? goals, whether they be financial or strategic. Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate how this recent power shift has affected the relationships of suppliers and retailers. This development has resulted in the rather new and unexplored area of retailer value, which this study further aimed to explore.

Nutritious food gives energy to benefit activitiesof the day and influences on behavior and performance as well as well being. Themeaning of the terms meal and mealtime are key concepts in this study and the severalbeneficial aspects beyond the physiological function. Inadequate time for the mealmight provide degenerative consequences for individual health and generate outgoingsfor society. The aim of this study was that from an individual perspective describe workenvironment conditions for meals and recovery potential among employees withirregular working hours using mixed methods with both questionnaire and interviews.Four (4) airline employees participated.

Abstract:Ambulance nurses have in their everyday work a varied work environment, the pace of work can quickly shift from being calm and structured to be a severe acute situation.Objective: The aim of the study was to describe how professional nurses in the ambulance operations experience their physical and mental work environment in daily practice.Method: A qualitative interview study with semi structured questions was used. The study group consisted of two women and three men, ages between 27?42 years. The study was carried out on an ambulance station in central Sweden. Based on collected data, a qualitativecontent analysis was performed that resulted in three categories.Results: The result showed that the ambulance nurses regarded that it was a lot of heavy lifting.
